アメリカの中学生からの質問

Dear Tsuda Junior high School Students

Thanks you for sending us the Japanese national holiday report.  They were very interesting.  I was surprised to learn that Japan has so many national holidays that are so different from the United Stateユs holidays.
I think that it is very nice that Japan celebrates natural things, like the season, the sea and greenery.  The United States does not have many holidays like that.  We just have Earth day, when we appreciate the Earth and everything natural on it.  We also celebrate our elders, on Motherユs day and Fatherユs day.  We do not have days to celebrate children, though, or days to celebrate coming-of-age.  How do you celebrate the spring and autumn equinoxes?  What about the emperorユs birthday and national foundation day?  Iユm really curious about Japanese customs and I would like to learn more.

Dear Students of Tsuda Junior high school

Thank you for sending the national holiday cards!  Here in America we donユt have the same holidays as yours.  Some of ours are sort of the same.  We celebrate Earth day, which is like greenery day.  Here in America we have Labor Day, and we celebrate it by doing no work!  We celebrate 4th of July which is the independence day of our nation.  We also celebrate Christmas, Christian and non-Christian!  We have a lot of strange holidays!  Some of them are good though, like Thanksgiving, a holiday for giving Thanks.

Dear students of Tsuda Junior high school

Thanks you for sending us the national Holidays Cards.  I really enjoyed reading them and thought they were very interesting, especially the wonderful drawings, though some of your holidays we donユt have in the U.S.A.  We donユt have Childrenユs day, Health-sports Day, Marin day, Coming-aged Day, and Cultureユs Day.  Instead of Greenery day, we have Earth Day.

Dear Tsuda Junior High school students

Thanks you for sending us a report on the national holidays of Japan.  They are very different from the holidays we celebrate in the U.S.  I would like to know more about the holidays of Spring Equinox.  It is great that you celebrate so many holidays that include nature.

I have read about the Japanese holidays and I have some questions about them.  What activities do you on Greenery Day?  In America, we have a day called メArbor Day,モ which meads メTree Day.モ  On Arbor Day, everyone plants a tree to conserve the environment.  I have one more question; Childrenユs Day is mostly for boys, so do you have a separate holiday for girls?  Thanks you for sending the information about Japanese holidays to us, it was very interesting.  I hope that you can answer our questions.

I have read what you sent us on Japanese holidays.  I have found the descriptions very interesting and informative.  I do have one question.  On Childrenユs Day you said that the holidays was particularly for children aged 3, 5, and 7.  I want to know hwy that is.  I didnユt have questions for any on the other holidays.  I liked the illustrations.

Dear Tsuda Junior High School Students,

Thank you for sending us all the information about all the different Japanese holidays.  Your holidays are very different than ours.  My only question is do you go to school on these holidays or not?

Emma Henkens

Dear Tsuda Junior High School Students,

Thank you for sending us the information about the different Japanese holidays.  It was fun to learn about them.  Your holidays are very different from ours.  I have one question about our holiday:  On which holidays is your school closed?  I hope you enjoyed reading about our holidays.
Sincerely,

Deanna Bangs

Dear Tsuda Junior High School Students,

Thank you so much for sending us the information about holidays in Japan.  I especially liked the illustrations.  It was very interesting to see which holidays are the same as the ones we have in the United State and which are different.  In the United States, we also celebrate New Yearユs Day and the Equinoxes and our own Thanksgiving Day.
Thanks again.
