今月は、凧作りをしました。 子供達にとってたこは、メキシコ料理のタコをさします。タコはトウモロコシ粉で焼いたクレープのようなものにレタスやミンチ肉・チーズ・豆等を巻いて食べ る料理です。凧のほかにたこ「蛸」という意味もありますね。鼻と鼻、飴と雨、目を芽など。このようなことばを同音異義語をいいますね。 名詞と名詞だけではなく、蛙と帰るのように名詞と動詞もありますね。あなたはいくつ同音異義語をいうことができますか（問題 I)

英語にも同じようなものがあり、homophoneといいます。

ボーマンスクールでは夏の間、集中して漢字の時間をとります。子供達は楽しく学ぶことになれているので、100字練習帳を与えて、さあ、練習しましょうで はすぐに興味を失ってしまいます。だから、漢字ビンゴを作って、ゲーム感覚で漢字の勉強していきます。たとえば、同音異義語のビンゴゲームでは、相手チー ムが「凧」にコインをおけば、同じ音の漢字である「蛸」にコインをおかなければポイントをとられてしまいます。
 さて、英語の同音異義語の問題です。ボーマンスクールの生徒さんが作りました。彼らが日常使っている文ですから勉強になると思いますよ。（　 　　）の中 に下から選んで言葉を入れましょう。同じアルファベットの中には同じ単語が入ります。同じ単語ですが、意味は違います。意味の違いに注意して訳してみま しょう。

IIの問題を解いていて気づいた人もいると思います。 英語では同じことばが使われ方によって形容詞になったり、副詞になったり、動詞になったりしますね。英語の難しいところです。それに対し、日本語のことば は形をみれば品詞がわかるようによく整理された言語だと思います。
